William Kurelek: The Messenger, is an online exhibition designed in conjunction with the first retrospective exhibition of the art of William Kurelek (1927–1977) in over 25 years, and the largest to date. The exhibition is scheduled at the Winnipeg Art Gallery in fall 2011, the Art Gallery of Hamilton in winter 2012, and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in summer 2012. Originally built at the Forks of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers in 1810, Fort Gibraltar was a North West Company fur trade post that also helped control the pemmican trade. The Festival du Voyageur inc rebuilt today’s Fort on the east side of the Red River in 1978.
