A Fresh Approach

February 2009

Betsy Hiebert has taken to a fresh approach to your healthcare with a book designed to help record medical information and provide seniors some valuable resources. Trying to remember everything can seem overwhelming. Keeping information in one place gives seniors and their families a quick and easy reference tool when they need it. Betsy’s company, My Care Necessities looked to Relish for help developing her brand – which included website, logo design, advertising, display and book design. Betsy’s book has been getting a lot of press  she was even onBig Breakfast on City TV a few weeks ago. A little brand can go a long way!

Betsy has applied to be on CBC TV’s Dragon’s Den with her Personal Healthcare Journal for the fall season. Check out their site – sign up and vote for Betsy!

Slice & Dice

March 2008

An excerpt from an interview with W.P. KINSELLA, author of Shoeless Joe and long-time judge for the Chapters-Amazon.ca/Books in Canada First Novel Award:

BCBookWorld: If you were writing a first novel today, what small press would you send it to?

W.P. Kinsella: I would go with Great Plains Publications, a relatively new firm out of Winnipeg.
Their books are all beautiful and they give the impression that they really care about their product.

Relish is pleased to have worked with Great Plains for over 8 years.

Great Plains Publications unveiled the largest and most detailed book project ever undertaken in this province. More than three years in the making, and with a quarter-million dollar budget, the Encyclopedia of Manitoba is an 814-page information extravaganza.

All aspects of the province’s history, arts, politics, geography, business, nature and sports are explored in 2,000 entries and essays, each written by an expert Manitoban. From Cindy Klassen to K-Tel, Lord Selkirk to Louis Riel, Bothwell Cheese to Chip & Pepper – anything & everything of importance to Manitobans is celebrated within the Encyclopedia’s pages.

Publisher Gregg Shilliday says there is still room for big reference books in this era of on-line resources. Unlike Wikipedia, our articles are written by experts and signed by them. Our editors went through a difficult process deciding what makes it into the book and our writers were proud to sign their names to the pieces.

The Encyclopedia of Manitoba is full-colour, hardcover, 814 pages and features more than a thousand photographs, paintings and maps. Relish Design was please to be contracted to design this outstanding publication.
